Join THREE of Metro Detroit's Competitive Brass Bands as they preview their competition programs before leaving for Fort Wayne, Indiana to compete in the North American Brass Band Championships! Each band will perform two pieces: a test piece that has been chosen for each section, and an own choice work.
This year, our bands will represent the state in the 3rd section (Motor City Academy Brass Band), 2nd section (Motor City Brass Band), and Championship section (Five Lakes Silver Band). Held annually, the NABBA Championship is the premiere competitive brass band event in North America. This year, the competition will feature 46 bands competing in 4 sections as well as two youth sections. Each Band performs a test piece and a choice for a panel of adjudicators.

Our musicians join us from all across the state of Michigan from other brass bands as well as some who are entirely new to brass banding. We are putting on our second annual Euchre tournament with our friends at GravCap Brewing and Sick Pizza in Oxford! Join us for a night of fun and prizes in a Euchre singles tournament where the winner could walk away with up to $200 as a cash prize. (based on the number of participants) The night will be filled with fun and prizes with an additional 50/50 raffle, Gift basket raffles, and more! Plus our friends across the street at Sick Pizza will be simultaneously holding a Dine-to-Donate fundraiser where 15% of their food sales will go toward the band. The best part is they will deliver delicious pizza right to your table at GravCap, with no delivery charge added! Beer, Pizza, & Euchre: It’s a Michigander’s dream! Join us for our Second Annual Golf Outing! Funds raised from this event will go toward the cost of travel for our band to compete at the World Music Contest this July! Five Lakes Silver Band is proud to represent North America at this prestigious international brass band competition held each quadrennium.
Setup as a 4 person Scramble, each $125 ticket includes: -18 holes of golf, Lunch at the turn, -Barbecue Buffet Dinner -Entry into various contests (Longest Drive, Closest to Pin, Straightest Drive, Etc.) Five Lakes Silver Band has been invited to the 2026 World Music Contest (WMC) in Kerkrade, Netherlands! This legendary international competition, held once every quadrennium, is the pinnacle of brass band excellence worldwide. Bands and ensembles from around the world showcase their musical excellence and push the boundaries of Wind, Fanfare, Percussion and Brass music. The contests serve as an international benchmark for the music community and inspire innovation and artistic development. The brass band area of the contest consists of a test piece on the first day and a 35 minute own-choice program of music on the second day including a soloist with band accompaniment selection.
