Paul Lovatt-Cooper, Composer in ResidenceFive Lakes Silver Band is thrilled to announce Paul Lovatt-Cooper has accepted a new role as ‘Composer in Residence’ with the band.
Paul Lovatt-Cooper is well known to the Five Lakes Silver Band, having begun his association with the band some years ago as guest clinician, composer and friend. As one of the most sought after composing talents of his generation, Paul Lovat-Cooper’s musical works have been performed to sell-out audiences at London's Royal Albert Hall, New York’s Carnegie Hall and Sydney Opera House. Paul is a revered and accomplished musician. In addition to being awarded commissions from an array of international soloists, his music has been featured on television and radio shows worldwide. Paul continues to be in high demand performing, conducting and composing for a variety of ensembles, festivals and media projects globally. He is the Managing Director of his music company PLC Music as well as "Composer in Association" with the world famous Black Dyke Band. His latest work, An Oxford Legacy, is the product of a consortium of brass bands and wind bands spear-headed by Five Lakes Silver Band. This new work is commissioned in remembrance and celebration of the lives of four High School students who tragically lost their lives in a shooting at Oxford High School (Michigan) in 2021. In addition to creating the work for brass band, the composer will write the piece tandemly for wind band instrumentation so it could be played by either ensemble or together as a combined number. |
