Welcome to the Five Lakes Silver Band!
The Five Lakes Silver Band board of directors is excited to announce a new band under the "Five Lakes" umbrella - Five Lakes Metro Brass!
FLMB will start out as a non-competitive community brass band looking to perform and entertain at the highest level. The band will play 4 concerts a year in and around the Metro Detroit area. To participate, you will need your own (brass band) instrument and must be at least 18 years old.
Mark your calendars for October 10th and November 14th from 3-5pm. These will be two reading days, where anyone interested in playing in the band is invited to show up and play.
At these reading days, we will collect everyone's information and survey potential music directors. Afterward, an audition date will be announced with a schedule and roster coming as soon as possible afterward.
Both reading sessions will be held at The Salvation Army Divisional Headquarters in Southfield from 3-5pm.
If you have any questions, please contact Christopher Ward, musical director of the Five Lakes Silver Band. You can reach him on Facebook or via firstname.lastname@example.org
Please spread the word! We are looking forward to a great turn-out!

The Five Lakes Silver Band is a nationally acclaimed British style Brass Band based in Royal Oak, Michigan, comprised of brass and percussion musicians. The name ‘Five Lakes Silver Band’ is a tribute to the brass band traditions of England and the region where we perform most: the area surrounding the Great Lakes, including Michigan, the Mid-Western US, as well as Southern Ontario, Canada. The term ‘Silver Band’, historically refers to bands who were equipped with silver plated brass instruments (as opposed to lacquered brass) typically implying a more accomplished band.
The mission of the Five Lakes Silver Band is to strive for musical excellence in performance, education and entertainment while continuing the British Brass Band tradition of contesting.
To achieve and maintain the status as one of the leading brass bands in the world while developing, growing and enriching the next generation of brass band artists and audiences.
