Consortium Commission Opportunity
Composition Information
"An Oxford Legacy" is a new commission in remembrance of the tragedy at Oxford High School November 30th , 2021. The consortium leads are Five Lakes Silver Band and Southeastern Michigan Wind Ensemble. The composition will be written for British Brass band and standard concert band. It will be written in a way that it may be performed separately or combined.

Difficulty: British Brass Band grade 6, Standard Concert Band Grade 4
Duration: 8 to 9 minutes
Instrumentation: British Brass Band and Standard Concert Band.

As one of the most sought-after composing talents of his generation, Paul Lovatt-Cooper’s musical works have been performed to sell-out audiences at London's Royal Albert Hall, New York’s Carnegie Hall and Sydney Opera House. Paul is a revered and accomplished musician. In addition to being awarded commissions from an array of international soloists, his music has been featured on television and radio shows worldwide. Today, Paul is in high demand as a Composer, Soloist and Conductor. He continues to enjoy performing, conducting and composing for a variety of ensembles, festivals and media projects globally. He currently holds the position of "Director of Music" at Factory Transmedia and is the Managing Director of his music company PLC Music. Paul is also "Composer in Association" with the world-famous Black Dyke Band.

Brass Band: November 23rd , 2024, U.S. Open Brass Band competition at Clarkston High School
Concert Band: November 24th , 2024, SEMWE fall concert at Clarkston High School

Consortium Members & Performance Exclusivity
Consortium membership is limited to 30 and will be accepted until July 31st , 2024
All consortium members will receive the commission after the premier concert.
Consortium members will have exclusive use of the piece through July 31st , 2025.
Individual donations will also be accepted and applied towards the commission.
Individual donations will be accepted through July 31st , 2024.
All consortium members and individual donors will be listed on the commission.


All funds received above the cost of the commission will be divided equally between the charities of the four students that lost their lives.
